He played college football at Rutgers and was selected by the Patriots in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft. Missing only five games during his Patriots tenure, McCourty has received two Pro Bowl selections and is a member of three Super Bowl-winning teams. McCourty also has the most postseason starts for a defensive player.

He was an American football defensive tackle in the National Football League for seven different teams (Packers, Buccaneers, Browns, 49ers, Falcons, Cowboys, and Cardinals). He also was a member of the Montreal Alouettes and Calgary Stampeders in the CFL. He has also been the defensive coordinator for the Calgary Stampeders.
