She was also the niece of the well-known soprano of the golden era of opera, Dame Rosetta Pampanini. Silvana Pampanini caused a sensation when she took part in the 1946 Miss Italy contest and the following year she started her movie career. Madame Pampanini was born into a well-off family, she was educated, and studied opera and ballet since her childhood. According to interviews, Pampanini was a contralto with notable voice extension. However, she also said many times over the years that she preferred to pursue a career in cinema as it required less training and it was much less demanding than a career as an opera singer.

He is best known for originating the role of Chris, opposite Lea Salonga's Kim, in the original production of Miss Saigon at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in the West End. He shot to fame in 1983 as Young Elvis in Alan Bleasdale's hit musical In 2006, he played the rock star again in This is Elvis and played a dentist in the BBC One series Doctors. Simon Oates (6 January 1932 – 20 May 2009) was an English actor best known for his roles on television. Born in Canning Town, east London and moving to Finchley in his teens, Oates trained as a heating engineer for his father's firm before becoming an actor. He was in the Intelligence Corps during his Army National Service. Working in theatrical rep during the 1950s he was leading man at York Theatre Royal for some years before being cast as Dr. John Ridge in the science fiction television series Doomwatch. He started as a cross-country mountain biker and won the 2005 Under-23 British National Mountain Biking Championships. He became a professional racing cyclist in 2007 and won the overall title in the 2009 FBD Insurance Rás stage race whilst riding for the Rapha Condor team. Richardson announced his retirement from professional cycling at the end of 2012 after winning the Rouleur’s Combativity award on the final stage of the Tour Of Britain.
