Logan Paul
April 1, 1995 — Westlake, Ohio
Logan Paul is an American entertainer, boxer, and WWE wrestler who built one of YouTube’s largest audiences before reinventing himself through boxing, professional wrestling, and co-founding Prime Hydration.
Vine, YouTube, and the Rise to Fame
Logan Alexander Paul was born on April 1, 1995, in Westlake, Ohio. He was a competitive wrestler in high school and attended Ohio University briefly before dropping out to pursue content creation full-time. He initially built a following on Vine — the short-form video platform that preceded TikTok — before migrating to YouTube, where his brash, high-energy style attracted tens of millions of subscribers.
By the mid-2010s Paul was one of YouTube's highest-earning creators, producing daily vlogs, challenge videos, and merchandise that generated reported revenues in the tens of millions of dollars per year. His audience skewed young — predominantly teenagers — and his charismatic, larger-than-life persona made him one of the defining figures of the first generation of YouTube celebrities.
Controversy, Reinvention, and Boxing
In December 2017 Paul posted a video filmed in Japan's Aokigahara forest that showed a body and was widely condemned as deeply insensitive. The resulting backlash was severe — he was dropped from several business partnerships, YouTube temporarily prevented his channel from earning advertising revenue, and the debate over creator accountability on major platforms intensified significantly. Paul issued a public apology and disappeared briefly from public life.
His reinvention pivoted around boxing. He had always been athletic, and he began training seriously and arranging high-profile exhibition bouts. His fights against fellow YouTuber KSI (split across two bouts in 2018 and 2019) drew enormous audiences — millions of pay-per-view purchases and online streams. He subsequently fought former NBA player Nate Robinson, Floyd Mayweather in an exhibition bout, and — most improbably — boxing legend Mike Tyson in 2024.
Did You Know?
Logan Paul co-founded Prime Hydration in 2022 with his longtime rival KSI — the same person he had fought in two boxing matches. The sports drink brand quickly became one of the fastest-growing beverage companies in history, reportedly generating over $250 million in revenue in its first year and reaching major retail partnerships worldwide within months of launch.
WWE and Entrepreneurship
In 2022 Paul signed a contract with WWE — World Wrestling Entertainment — and quickly demonstrated that his athleticism and performance instincts translated naturally to professional wrestling's theatrical demands. He performed at WrestleMania and several major pay-per-view events, receiving strong reviews from wrestling journalists who noted that his in-ring ability had developed well beyond what most celebrity crossover performers manage.
Paul's business portfolio extends beyond Prime Hydration and WWE: he has invested in NFTs, launched a sports betting and gaming platform, co-hosted the popular podcast Impaulsive, and remained active on YouTube. Whatever the cultural assessment of his origins, Logan Paul has built one of the most unusual and diversified entertainment-and-business careers of his generation — one shaped as much by crisis management and reinvention as by the original formula that made him famous.
